Like all manufacturers, Creative are living in the shadow of the iPod. The X-Fi represents their attempt to try and break new ground by creating a device that can play music and video in a small, portable package. But the result is mixed; we found problems in sound quality, and it wasn't easy to use.

Scrolling through lists is awkward

Interface takes time to navigate
Other Media Software Good Photo management features
Podcast service is proprietary
Performance Plenty of power to drive headphones
Some distortion
Internet & Wireless WiFi connectivity
No online music store, and only limited streaming support
Synchronization Creative Centrale software supports basic synching functions
Can't synch over WiFi
Other Software Support for Instant Messaging over Widnows Messenger and Yahoo
No contact, calendar or downlodable software support
