Gadget fanatics will go to all sorts of extremes to spark their own desperate speculations. Witness the recently unearthed patent application filed by Creative in January of this year. What do these patent diagrams show? Well it would seem to be some kind of media player. More aptly, the description reads, '...a perspective view of a media player showing our new design.'

The view of the front, however, seems to include a small lens, not unlike the digital camera on most cell phones.

What is Creative up to? PMPs are nothing new to Creative, but the design seems bulkier than their latest Zen series. Is this the long-rumored media player with built-in GPS and touch screen? Or just a theoretical design that Creative is throwing out there as a just-in-case measure? We've been disappointed by red herrings in the past, so we'll approach this one with cautious optimism.
